PDO THREADS

A PDO (polydioxanone) thread is a medical-grade, dissolvable suture that is inserted into areas of the face and/or body. This is a nonsurgical procedure designed to lift and tighten sagging skin. Once the PDO threads are inserted, they will dissolve within 6 months leaving a strong band of collagen. Depending on the type of thread inserted, results may be seen immediately or over time.

  • Treatments are done under local anesthesia to numb the skin.

  • All threads dissolve within 4-6 months, leaving behind new collagen.

  • Results typically last 6-12 months.

  • Target virtually any area of the face or body.

  • Strategically placed to address more specific aging/skin concerns.

  • Depending on the type of PDO thread inserted, results may be immediate or take some time.

  • Side effects include, swelling, bruising, and occasional strange sensations in area threads were placed.

What Are the Benefits?

One of the main benefits to a PDO thread lift is its ability to lift and tighten sagging skin. Additionally, because PDO threads enhance blood flow to treated areas, skin pigmentation will improve, resulting in more vibrant skin. For best results, multiple sessions are needed to achieve desired results.

What Can I Expect From My PDO Thread Lift?

After meeting with one of our nurse practitioners, the type, the number, and the implementation of the threads will be discussed. An injected and/or topical anesthetic may be used prior to PDO thread placement to aid in comfort.

Depending on the types and placement of threads, post-care varies. Your nurse practitioner will discuss post-care with you at your time of visit. With any thread placement, bruising, swelling, and tenderness may last up to 2 weeks. Laser treatments and any radio-frequency treatments should be avoided in the area of treatment for at least one month.
